Football: Week 8 Peer Coaching

Hello All,

Peer Coaching segment:
  • Reminder to complete your lesson plan prior to Peer Coaching your group.
  • Brief your group prior to recording the video: briefing includes i) the skill / concept, ii) the key points <at leat 2 to 3>, iii) why do we want to learn this skill / concept, iv) reflections no later than the 3rd day after your coaching segment. 
  • Videographer must consider:
  • Avoid facing the sun. 
  • If audio is unclear, provide voice-over.
  • Elevated video (during drills) or close-up (focus on key points - e.g. kicking using inside of foot, Goalkeeper catching a shot using a with fingers shaped into a 'W'.)
  • Check video to inform coach if the section needs to be recorded again.
  • The video should be about 5 minutes long - <Intro to skill / concept / key points / explaination of drill + actual drill sequence>
Upload your videos with the <Title of Skill / Concept>, <Peer Coach Name>, <Videographer>

Note: The first name (e.g. Ming En) will start 'Peer Coaching' from Week 8 (25th Feb) onwards.
The second name will be the videographer (e.g. Kai Xuan).Ming En should also bring his camera as a back-up.

Each coaching session is 15 minutes maximum. Each group will have 1 football per player & 10 cones each.

I will email to Daniel the Football Coaching Template. Daniel will be able to forward it to you.
Remember to email or pass me the hardcopy when you have completed your post-coaching reflection.

Level 4 Accomplished
Pupil is able to move into space to receive the ball practically all the time.
Pupil is able to receive, dribble and control the ball all the time.
Pupil is able to correctly decide when to pass, where to pass or who to pass to all the time.
Pupil is able to demonstrate mastery in applying a skill or concept in a training situation.
Pupil shows appropriate behavior and attitude, is able to play the game fairly and according to the rules stipulated at all times.

Level 3
Competent
Pupil is able to move into space to receive the ball most of the times.
Pupil is able to pass accurately and receive the ball successfully most of the times.
Pupil is able to correctly decide when to pass, where to pass or who to pass to most of the time
Pupil is able to demonstrate competence in applying a skill or concept in a training situation.


Pupil shows appropriate behavior and attitude, is able to play the game fairly and according to the rules stipulated most of the times.

Level 2 Developing
Pupil is able to move into space to receive the ball sometimes.
Pupil is able to pass accurately and receive the ball successfully sometimes.
Pupil is able to correctly decide when to pass, where to pass or who to pass to sometimes.
Pupil is able to demonstrate basic application of a skill or concept in a training situation.

Pupil shows appropriate behavior and attitude, is able to play the game fairly and according to the rules stipulated sometimes.

Level 1
Needs Improvement
Pupil does not move into space to receive the ball at all times.
Pupil is unable to pass accurately and receive the ball at all times.
Pupil is unable to correctly decide when to pass, where to pass or who to pass to at all times.
Pupil is unable to demonstrate application of a skill or concept in a training situation.

Pupil shows inappropriate behavior and attitude, is unable to play the game fairly and according to the rules at all times.







Peer Coaching - Football


Hello Class,

For your Peer Coaching, each student can choose from the following:

 Skills / Concepts to be taught (Choose one only from either skills or concepts):
  • Skills: Dribbling / Passing and Receiving / Shooting / Heading / Defending / Shielding the Ball
  • Concepts: Maintaining Possession through Support Play / Defending / Attacking 

Each group has to assign:
  • Team Manager (Permanent): To inform the teacher of the 'Coach' for that lesson and the coaching sequence.

  • Coach (one student per lesson / each student in the group to peer coach): 
i) Pre-Lesson: Prepares his / her lesson in advance using the 'SST Football Coaching Template'.
ii) conducts his / her peer-coaching for 15 minutes.
iii) Post-Lesson: Writes his reflections of his lesson conducted and submits his 'SST Football Coaching Template' to his teacher within 3 days.

Each coach must assign a videographer to record the relevant part of the 15 minute lesson. The recording must be check for audio and video clarity prior to uploading to the class SW blog.
